Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about joining, starting, and supporting the movement.
Local groups
The best way to get in touch with your local group is to use our group finder. You’ll be able to search for a group, and then see information about their social media pages, website and a contact email.
Our groups all operate independently. We are a loosely federated network and that means each group can operate in its own unique way to suit its own unique community. Our groups also all raise their own funds, and many of them have their own constitution or governing system.
How long is a piece of string! The number of Incredible Edible groups changes all the time, and because of the way we are structured, we don’t always know about all the groups that exist.
You can see a full list of all our UK groups on the group finder, and you can also check out all the groups in France at Incroyables Comestibles. But there are also groups in New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Japan, DC Congo, Spain, and more! The UK and France are the only places with a central organisation that supports the groups in their region.
Volunteering
Many of our groups are very happy to have corporate volunteer groups come and help them out. You’ll need to contact the group you want to volunteer with specifically to ask them, and you can find the details of your local group(s) via the group finder.
Yes! You’ll need to contact the group you want to volunteer with directly via the group finder.
We try to. Not all of our groups are set up to support individuals with higher support needs. Please use our group finder to see which groups are operating near you and contact them directly with your query.
Interview Enquiries
Usually, yes. Please get in touch via our contact form. Please give us as much notice as possible, as we are a very small team and cannot always respond at short notice to press enquiries.
We do try to make ourselves available for researchers, but at particularly busy times this can sometimes be difficult. Please do get in touch and we will do our best to help.
We’re a very small team and sadly don’t have capacity to help with school projects. However there is lots of information about what we do in the Toolshed, and you might like to listen to our podcast series too.
Setting up new groups / gardens
We don’t have the capacity to provide this kind of support. We have lots of resources that can help you set up a garden or a group, but we can’t do it for you.
Anyone can set up a new Incredible Edible group. Please take a look at the Start a Group section of the website where there is lots of guidance. Once you’ve got your group set up, you can register your group with us and we’ll add it to our groups directory.
No. There is no membership fee and we’ll create a logo and list your group at no cost. You will probably need to raise some funds for the basics though; compost, seeds and things like that. Please take a look at our guidance on fundraising for your group.
Yes! We would love you to. Please check the guidance on our Start a Group page. Most of it will be transferable. We can’t list you on our UK directory of groups, but please do still get in touch and let us know you are setting up and we can help with providing a logo if you want one.
